The jury in a murder trial have heard that DNA matching the accused was found on clothing smelling of petrol that he was seen disposing of the same day a man was shot dead.

Keith O’Neill (39) from Lissadell Drive, Drimnagh in Dublin, has pleaded not guilty to murdering John Wilson on September 28th, 2012 at his home on Cloverhill Road, Ballyfermot Dublin 10.

Taking to the stand, Detective Garda Ronan Doolan confirmed with Conor Devally SC, prosecuting, that he saw the accused place two JD Sports bags into a skip on September 28th.

The passenger in a car driven by a man shot dead in front of his daughter has told a murder trial jury that he “ran” when another car pulled up beside him.

A seven year old girl who witnessed her father’s “execution” at their home told gardai that she felt a “little bit sad and a little happy because my dad is away from the bad boys now”, a murder trial has heard.

A Central Criminal Court jury today heard that the girl gave officers a statement, telling them: “I just heard ‘bang bang bang’ – I could see my dad rolling around. I called my da.”

A Dublin man will go on trial tomorrow, charged with murdering a 35-year-old man in Ballyfermot in 2012.

Keith O’Neill (39) from Ramillies Road, Ballyfermot in Dublin was arraigned before the Central Criminal Court today.

Dressed in a blue shirt with a navy and white collar, he pleaded not guilty to murdering John Wilson on September 28th, 2012 on Cloverhill Road, Ballyfermot.

A jury of three women and seven men were sworn in to hear the trial and an additional two jurors will be sworn in tomorrow.

A 47-year-old Limerick mother of four has been given a two year suspended sentence for failing to disclose information to gardai in connection with the murder of Noel Crawford in Limerick City in 2006.

Mary Maloney, of South Claughan Road, Garryowen, Limerick was charged between December 18 2006 and February 2011, both dates inclusive, with having information which she knew or believed might be of material assistance in securing the apprehension, prosecution or conviction of another person for a serious offence, to wit the murder of Noel Crawford and without reasonable excuse did fail to disclose such information as soon as ….read more

A Kilkenny man will go on trial on Wednesday charged with murdering a 25-year-old man in Waterford in 2014.

Tadhg Butler (34), also known as Thomas O’Grady, with an address at Seafield in Tramore, County Waterford but originally from Kilkenny was arraigned before the Central Criminal Court today.

Dressed in a grey tie and black leather jacket, he pleaded not guilty to murdering Michael O’Dwyer in Waterford more than one year ago.

A Cavan father-of-four who killed his wife of 33 years at their family home has been jailed for 12 years.

Oliver Kierans (57) of Drumbannon Bailieborough in Cavan had pleaded not guilty to murdering Patricia Kierans (54) on September 5th, 2013 at the same address.

A majority verdict of not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter was reached by a Central Criminal Court jury after more than fifteen hours of deliberations.

Last February Oliver Kierans was also found guilty of the possession of a 12-gauge double barrel shotgun and guilty of possession with intent to endanger life.

An “accomplished boxer” has been sentenced to ten years imprisonment with the last two years suspended for the manslaughter of a mother-of-two with whom he had been in a “turbulent relationship”.

Ray Gralton (23), with an address at Mount Prospect, Roscommon, was charged with the murder of 28-year-old Sara Staunton at her home at Portagh, Mayo Abbey, Claremorris in Co. Mayo on December 13, 2013.

He pleaded guilty to manslaughter in advance of the trial and the plea was accepted by the DPP.

A Dublin man has been found not guilty of the murder of Kevin Kenny outside a pub in Inchicore more than three years ago.

Craig O’Halloran (22), with an address at Heathfield, Dublin Road in Portlaoise and originally from Colepark Road in Ballyfermot, had pleaded not guilty to murdering Kevin Kenny (32) at the Sarsfield Road in Ballyfermot on July 31st, 2011.

The jury of five men and seven women returned after more than three hours with a verdict of not guilty.

Lawyers for the State have told the jury in the trial of a Dublin man charged with murder that they can be satisfied the accused attacked the deceased with a knife intending to kill him or cause serious injury.

Craig O’Halloran (21), with an address at Heathfield, Dublin Road in Portlaoise and originally from Colepark Road in Ballyfermot, is charged with murdering Kevin Kenny (32) at the Sarsfield Road in Ballyfermot on July 31st, 2011.

Mr O’Halloran has pleaded not guilty to the charge and is currently on trial at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin.
