A bank-appointed receiver has launched a High Court action aimed at securing possession of “a palatial eight bedroom mansion” described as being similar to something that featured in the popular 1980′s TV series “Dallas.”

The proceedings have been brought in respect of a property known as the Grange or Grange House Ballyboughal in Co Dublin, which it is claimed has been unlawfully re-occupied by its owners Jeremiah, otherwise Jerry, Donovan and his wife Bridget Donovan.

A Co Dublin man has brought High Court proceedings aimed at compelling his neighbour take steps to prevent rock slides and boulders from damaging his property.

The action has been brought by Paul Lynam of Weirview Gardens, Lucan against Thomas Kelly of Weirview Cottages, Lucan.

The court heard Mr Kelly owns a 36 meters square embankment of land located at the rear of Mr Lynam’s property.

The embankment, made up of soil and rock, is 7 to 8 meters high and is vertical in places.

An application to wind up Irish Asphalt Ltd has opened before the High Court.

James Elliot Construction (JEC) has brought the petition seeking the appointment of a liquidator to the firm, which is part of the Lagan Group of companies, over an alleged unpaid debt of more than €2.4m.

The application is opposed by Irish Asphalt Ltd, the directors of the firm and by related entity Lagan Holdings Ltd, which is IAC’s largest creditor.

A company which teaches skydiving has launched a High Court action over an order by Kilkenny County Council that the firm ceases operations.

The action has been brought by Skydive Ireland Ltd and its director Mr David Byrnes, both of Kilkenny Aerodrome Holdensrath, Kilkenny.

The company instructs its customer how to perform parachute jumps from aircraft that take off and land at the airfield.

The company and Mr Byrnes’ proceedings arise out of a decision by Kilkenny Co Council of May 22nd last to issue an enforcement notice requiring the company to cease all sponsored skydiving at the airfield.

A member of the Irish Naval Service has launched a High Court action over being disciplined for bringing too many duty free cigarettes on board the ship he was serving.

The action has been brought by Eugene O’Toole arising out of an incident that occurred last September when he was serving on board the LE James Joyce, which at the time was anchored at the port of Valetta in Malta.

Mr O’Toole, from Mallow in Co Cork, claims the reprimand he received over the incident following a disciplinary process should be quashed because the sanction was imposed by his ….read more

A retired schoolteacher has brought a legal challenge aimed at preventing his trial in relation to alleged indecent assaults against boys almost fifty years ago.

The former teacher has been sent forward for trial before Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 16 charges of alleged indent assaults committed against nine boys on dates between September 1968 and 1971.

It is claimed the charges arise out of complaints made by former pupils at the South Dublin School which the man had taught at.

The High Court has dismissed applications, brought by six people who want to oppose claims by the Criminal Assets Bureau that certain assets seized by the bureau as part of its investigation into the Kinahan crime cartel are the proceeds of crime, to have their legal costs covered by the State.

CAB had previously secured Court orders freezing assets it says are the proceeds of crime including jewelry, motorbikes, property and cars following raids conducted as part of its investigation in the Kinahan gang at various locations in March 2016.

A couple have brought a High Court challenge against An Bord Pleanala’s decision to grant planning permission for a wind-farm development close to their home.

The action has been brought by Klaus Balz and Hanna Heubach, with an address at Bear na Gaoithe, Inchigeelagh, Co Cork against the planning authorities decision to grant planning permission for a windfarm at Cleanrath Inchigeelagh.

Permission to develop a windfarm, consisting of up to 11 turbines, was granted to Cleanrath Windfarm Ltd.

The High Court has been asked to approve legal aid to six individuals who want to oppose claims by CAB that certain assets seized by the bureau as part of its investigation into the Kinahan crime cartel are the proceeds of crime.

CAB had previously secured court orders freezing assets including jewelry, motorbikes, property and cars which it seized following raids at various locations in March 2016.

CAB’s proceedings are against several parties including Mr Liam Byrne, who the bureau says is a member of the Kinahan gang, and several of his associates.

The High Court has approved a settlement of €120k to a man who allegedly suffered injuries including unexplained bruises, blisters and burns while he attended at a workshop run by the Brothers of Charity.

The award was made in favour of 38 year old Seamus Vaughan, who the High Court heard has been profoundly disabled since he was a teenager, who sued over an alleged gross lack of care he received while he attended a Brothers of Charity Workshop at Lacey’s Cross, Newcastle West Co Limerick.
