The wife of a man accused of shooting dead a member of a rival biker club has told her husband’s murder trial that she has lived in fear for the last two years.

May McNamara was giving evidence at the Central Criminal Court where her husband, Alan McNamara (51), from Mountfune, Murroe, Co LImerick has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Andrew O’Donoghue on June 20, 2015 at Mountfune.

Gardai found two shotguns, pepper spray, iron bars, axe handles, knuckle dusters and knives when they searched a bikers’ clubhouse and cars where a man was shot dead.

The weapons were found by gardai investigating the death of Andrew O’Donoghue (51) who died after being shot at Murroe, Co Limerick on June 20, 2015. Alan McNamara (51), of Mountfune, Murroe, Co Limerick has pleaded not guilty to his murder.

A biker shot a member of a rival motorcycle club dead over a territorial dispute in Limerick, a prosecuting barrister told a murder trial jury today.

Alan McNamara (50), of Mountfune, Murroe, Co Limerick has pleaded not guilty to murdering Andrew O’Donoghue (51) in Murroe, Co Limerick on June 20, 2015.

His stepson, Robert Cusack (28), is charged with impeding Mr McNamara’s apprehension knowing or believing him to have committed a serious offence. Mr Cusack has also pleaded not guilty and both men are being tried together at the Central Criminal Court.

A man who admitted “brutally” beating a 62-year-old former rugby captain to death has been jailed for five years.

Gary Walsh (35), with an address at The Watercourse, Orwell Park in Templeogue, had been charged with murdering Cathal Sweeney at a mutual friend’s flat in Ashdale Gardens, Terenure in Dublin.

Following two trials in which juries could not agree a verdict, the State accepted his plea of guilty to manslaughter.

A 34-year-old Dublin man has been convicted of being the murderer in drag who gunned a man down with a sub-machine gun in a busy car park.

Christopher McDonald, from the East Wall area of Dublin, was found guilty of murder by unanimous jury verdict following a little over two hours of deliberation at the Central Criminal Court.

The jury in the trial of Christopher McDonald viewed footage that gardai say shows 36-year-old Keith Walker suffering the gunshot wounds that killed him.
