A West Dublin car dealer who is facing multiple accusations relating to deception, money laundering and handling stolen property has been remanded in custody with consent to bail pending the preparation of the book of evidence in his case.

Paul Dargan (44), of Whitechurch Way, Dublin 16, appeared via video-link at Cloverhill District Court today, having previously been before Tallaght District Court last Friday, March 28th.

Mr Dargan is charged with six counts of deception, 16 counts of money laundering and one count of the possession of stolen property on dates ranging from July 6, 2022 to October 20, 2023. Several of the deception counts are alleged to have occurred at Lpd Cars at Unit 5A, Oldbawn Road, Tallaght Dublin 24.

Garda Sergeant Olwyn Murphy informed Judge Alan Mitchell that the book of evidence in the case is not yet ready.

Counsel for the accused, Alex Langan MacDonnell BL, said that his client “has to decide on his plea going forward”. The court heard that an independent bail surety for Mr Dargan has yet to provide the €1,000 required.

Judge Mitchell advised defence counsel that Mr Dargan should be made aware that entering a guilty plea may result in a reduction of a third of any sentence imposed.

He then remanded Mr Dargan in custody with consent to bail until April 17.
