Man charged with murder of Peter Butterly to be prosecution witness against co-accused

A Dublin man who was charged with the murder dissident republican Peter Butterly is to be a prosecution witness and give evidence against his three co-accused at trial, the Special Criminal Court has heard.

David Cullen (29), of Brackenwood Ave, Balbriggan and his co-accused Edward McGrath (32), of Land Dale Lawns, Springfield, Tallaght, Dean Evans (22), of Grange Park Rise, Raheny, and Sharif Kelly (43) of Pinewood Green Road, Balbriggan were last year charged with the murder of Peter Butterly.

Man stole petrol after serious threat made on his life, court hears

A MAN who stole petrol from a service station and nearly knocked down a pump attendant as he sped away claimed a serious threat on his life made him agitated at the time and he panicked.

Jerry Flynn (25) had tape covering the number plate of his car when he went to the Great Gas Service Station in Donabate.

Flynn of Ballyowen in Lucan was given a three month suspended sentence, fined €200 and disqualified from driving for two years.

An Irishman described in court as “the largest facilitator of child porn in the world” must wait two more months to find out if his application for leave to seek judicial review of the DPP’s decision not to prosecute him in Ireland has been successful.

Eric Eoin Marques, who is alleged to be the owner and administrator of an anonymous hosting site known as Freedom Hosting, had sought a judicial review of the decision by the DPP not to prosecute him in this country over charges relating to conspiring to distribute and advertise child pornography, and advertising and ….read more

A murder trial in which a man is accused of stabbing his former partner will continue despite the absence of the accused in court.

Vesel Jahiri, of Louth Village, Dundalk but originally from Kosovo, has pleaded not guilty to murdering Anna Finnegan at Allendale Glen, Clonsilla in Dublin on the 21 of September 2012.

Mr Jahiri has also pleaded not guilty to assault causing harm on Ms Finnegan’s brother, Karl, on the same date.

The Central Criminal Court has previously heard how Anna Finnegan and Mr Jahiri had been in a ten-year relationship that had ‘deteriorated dramatically’.

Grandfather with 215 convictions sentenced to six months for hotel burglary

A GRANDFATHER with 215 convictions who broke into a Co Dublin hotel and stole alcohol has been given a six months sentence.

Chronic heroin addict, Raymond O’Hara’s offending spirals out of control when he takes drugs, Swords District Court has heard.

O’Hara (47) of St Mary’s Mansion in Dublin pleaded guilty to burglary at Portmarnock Hotel on Strand Street in Portmarnock, Co Dublin on December 11th, 2012.

Sergeant Anthony Nulty gave evidence that at 7am O’Hara gained entry into the hotel through a fire door.

He went behind the bar and removed €280 worth of alcohol. Sgt Nulty said the whole incident was captured ….read more

A frightened Marioara Rostas phoned her brother in Romania the day after she went missing here asking for her ‘Daddy to come get her’, a murder trial has heard.

The 18-year-old’s elder brother, Alexandru Rostas, was giving evidence to the Central Criminal Court today in the trial of the 35-year-old man charged with murdering her.
