Bail for man charged with IRA membership and handgun possession

A Dublin man charged with the IRA membership and the possession of two handguns in Dublin’s south inner city has been granted bail by the Special Criminal Court.

Patrick Kennedy (65) and his co-accused Gary Yeung (31) were arrested by gardai last Saturday afternoon on James’ Street as part of ongoing investigations in to the activities of dissident republicans in Dublin and Limerick.

The pair were both charged with the unlawful possession of a .455 Colt model “New Service” revolver and a .455 Calibre Webley Mark 6 revolver bearing serial number 324736 at James’ Street, Dublin 8 on September 14th, 2013.

“Largest facilitator of child porn in the world” refused bail for second time

An Irishman described by an FBI Special Agent as “the largest facilitator of child porn in the world” has been refused bail for a second time at the High Court.

 

Mr Justice John Edwards this afternoon (Friday) said that having taken “considerable time” to review the evidence in the case he was not disposed to grant bail to Eric Eoin Marques, who is wanted in the United States on charges relating to conspiring to distribute and advertise child pornography, and advertising and distributing child pornography.

An application brought by an Algerian-born Irish citizen for leave to seek judicial review of an attempt to extradite him to the United States, where he is wanted on international terrorism charges, has been adjourned until October.

 

Ali Charaf Damache (48), who has been living in Ireland for a decade, is wanted in the United States to face charges relating to the conspiracy to provide material support for terrorists and attempted identity theft to facilitate an act of international terrorism.

Two men have appeared before the non-jury Special Criminal Court this morning (Monday) charged with the possession of two handguns in Dublin’s south inner city.

Second bail attempt for “largest facilitator of child porn on the planet”

The High Court has ruled that a 28-year-old Irishman, described by an FBI special agent as “the largest facilitator of child porn on the planet,” can make a fresh bid for bail today (Thursday).

Mr Justice John Edwards said that “after much reflection and not without considerable hesitation” he had had concluded the interests of justice required that Eric Eoin Marques be allowed to proceed with a fresh bail application.

The United States alleges that an Algerian-born Irish citizen conspired with others to devise and create a “violent jihad organisation” capable of targeting US and Western European citizens, the High Court has heard.
