Dundon and Killeen seeking garda and prison recordings in advance of Roy Collins murder trial

Two Limerick men due to stand trial on a charge of murdering businessman Roy Collins five years ago are seeking recordings of communications between garda stations and prisons, the Special Criminal Court has heard.

Wayne Dundon (35), of Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, and Nathan Killeen (23), of Hyde Road, Prospect, are charged with the murder of Mr Collins (35) at Coin Castle Amusements, Roxboro Road Shopping Centre, Limerick on April 9th, 2009.

They are due to stand trial at the non-jury court on April 29 before presiding judge Ms Justice Iseult O’Malley.

Men charged with handgun possession to stand trial next year

Special Criminal Court

Two men charged with the possession of two handguns in Dublin’s south inner city will stand trial at the Special Criminal Court in October next year.

Gary Yeung (31) and his co-accused Patrick Kennedy (65) were arrested by gardai on the afternoon of September 14th last year on James’ Street in Dublin, as part of ongoing investigations in to the activities of dissident republicans in Dublin and Limerick.

Murder trial hears from witness jailed for impeding investigation

A 32-year-old Dublin man has gone on trial, accused of murdering a friend in the city and dumping his body in a water-filled ditch.

Alan Harte with an address at Clareville Grove in Glasnevin, but from East Wall, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of father-of-two Peter Gunn (28) on January 4th 2009 in Cabra Park, Cabra.

A witness told the Central Criminal Court that he saw the accused man stab Mr Gunn in the chest, shortly after hearing them exchange words about Mr Harte’s uncle.

Man arrested after Alan Ryan Funeral pleads guilty to IRA membership

A Dublin man arrested after a garda investigation in to paramilitary activity at the funeral of Alan Ryan has pleaded guilty to IRA membership.

Nathan Kinsella (33) was due to stand trial at the Special Criminal Court last month, however the non-jury court issued a bench warrant for his arrest after he failed to appear for his trial.

The court heard that the accused had not been heard from in months and the Circuit Criminal Court had also issued a bench warrant for his arrest in November last year after he failed to appear there.

Man cleared of withholding information on David Black murder

Special Criminal Court

A Dublin man has been cleared by the Special Criminal Court of withholding information relating to the murder of Northern Ireland prison officer David Black in November 2012.

Vincent Banks (46), of Smithfield Gate Apartments in Dublin 7, had denied the charge of withholding information in relation to the murder between October 10th and December 20th, 2012.

The court heard that 52-year-old father of two Mr Black, who worked at the high security Maghaberry jail in Co Antrim, was murdered as he drove to work on the M1 motorway near Lurgan on November 1, 2012.

Provisional Liquidator appointed to Buy and Sell publisher

The High Court has appointed a provisional liquidator to the company that publishes Buy and Sell magazine.

Mr Justice Brian McGovern today appointed insolvency practitioner Mr Neil Hughes as provisional liquidator of Buzreel Limited. The company based at Bridgecourt Office Park, Walkinstown Avenue, Dublin 12 publishes 5 weekly publications of Buy and Sell and operates the website

The application to appoint Mr Hughes was made by Midland Web Printing Ltd, which holds a contract to print the magazine. The court was told Midland is owed more than €90,000 by Buzreel making it one of the firm’s largest creditors.
