Kildare murder trial opens

The trial of three men accused of murdering a 20-year-old man in Co. Kildare last year has heard the deceased was shouting on the phone shortly before he was shot.

James Seery (21) of Canal Side, Athy in Kildare, Quentin Monaghan (21) of Tullamoy, Stradbally, Co. Laois and Darren Wynne (21) of Ballyroe, Athy, Co. Kildare were arraigned before the Central Criminal Court last Wednesday.

All three pleaded not (NOT) guilty to murdering Jamie Lindsay at Coney Green, Coneyboro, Athy, Co. Kildare on April 6, 2013.

Wexford woman not guilty by reason of insanity of murder of her partner

A Wexford woman has been found not guilty by reason of insanity for the murder of her partner at their home in 2012.

Caroline Roche (52) from Ballyedmond Monamolin in Wexford pleaded not guilty earlier this week (Wednesday) to murdering Walter Plunkett by reason of insanity.

The three-day trial heard that Mr Plunkett had lived at the same address in Wexford with his partner Caroline Roche for over 10 years.

A man accused of murdering his former partner claims her cousin, who “used to help Sinn Féin” and “handed leaflets out for Mary Lou McDonald,” was involved in a plot to wipe him out, a jury has heard.
Vesel Jahiri, of Louth Village, Dundalk but originally from Kosovo, has pleaded not (NOT) guilty to murdering Anna Finnegan at Allendale Glen, Clonsilla, Dublin 15 on September 21 2012.
Mr Jahiri has also pleaded not (NOT) guilty to assault causing harm on Anna Finnegan’s brother, Karl, on the same date.

Main prosecution witness in Roy Collins murder trial admits mistake

The principal prosecutuon witness against Wayne Dundon in the Roy Collins murder trial has explained how he mistakenly implicated Dundon in separate murder that he could not have committed.
Gareth Collins was recalled to the witness box this (Friday) morning after it emerged that Wayne Dundon had been in prison when the witness said he had tried to get Collins to help kill bouncer Brian Fitzgerald.
Collins had already testified at the Special Criminal Court, where Dundon (36), of Lenihan Avenue, Prospect is on trial with Nathan Killeen (24) of Hyde Road, Prospect.

Man died as a result of asphyxia court told

An 84-year old man died as a result of asphyxia following an attack at his home in 2012, a murder trial has heard.

State Pathologist Doctor Marie Cassidy gave evidence today (Thursday) at the Central Criminal Court

The trial of three men charged with murdering a 20-year-old man in Co. Kildare last year has been adjourned because a juror is “unwell”.

James Seery (21) of Canal Side, Athy in Kildare, Quentin Monaghan (21) of Tullamoy, Stradbally, Co. Laois and Darren Wynne (21) of Ballyroe, Athy, Co. Kildare were arraigned before the Central Criminal Court yesterday (WED).

All three pleaded not (NOT) guilty to murdering Jamie Lindsay at Coney Green, Coneyboro, Athy, Co. Kildare on April 6, 2013.

Mr Wynne also pleaded not (NOT) guilty to possession of a sawn-off shotgun and ammunition with intent to endanger life on that occasion.
