The Supreme Court has reserved its decision in an appeal by Wicklow man, alleged to be an administrator of a website which dealt with illegal drugs and hacking software, against an order for his extradition to the United States.
The appeal has been brought by Gary Davis (29) of Johnstown Court, Kilpedder, Co Wicklow
who is wanted by US authorities to face trial on charges including conspiracy to distribute narcotics, conspiracy to commit computer hacking and conspiracy to commit money laundering in connection with the Silk Road website.

A senior garda officer has told the Charleton tribunal there were rumours circulating in Garda HQ about garda whistleblower Sergeant Maurice McCabe while he worked there.
Detective Superintendent Frank Walsh worked as private secretary to the commissioner until 2016, dealing with confidential reporting and protected disclosure.
“There were rumours circulating about Gda McCabe” Dept Supt Walsh said. “The rumour machine was in full flight around that time.”
Det Supt Walsh said that a correspondence file from Sgt McCabe, who first wrote to the commissioner about issues with Garda management, eventually grew to about 3,500 pages, although ….read more

Two Dublin men wanted in Northern Ireland on charges including the attempted murder of a PSNI officer have been granted leave to apply for judicial review.
The applications concern an alleged failure by Gardaí to provide them with information and records following their arrest in 2015.
Ciaran Maguire (29), of Kippure Park, Finglas South and Sean Paul Farrell (32), of Stannaway Road, Kimmage, are wanted in connection with the attempted murder of a police officer in 2015 and possession of explosives with intent to endanger life. Both men face life imprisonment on both counts if found guilty.

The remaining defendants facing criminal charges as a result of the 2014 Jobstown water protest may have their bail conditions changed to stop them commenting on the trials online, a judge has said.
Former Tanaiste Joan Burton and her advisor Karen O’Connell had left a graduation event at An Cosan Education Centre at Jobstown, Tallaght when a demonstration was held which delayed them for about three hours on November 15th, 2014.
A number of defendants face charges of violent disorder and of falsely imprisoning the two women arising out of the incident.

The jury in the trial of a detective accused of harassing a woman by sending abusive material has been shown evidence of literary features common to the material and to documents linked to the accused.
Eve Doherty (49), a detective sergeant based in Dublin, denies harassing Elizabeth Howlin between September 2011 and March 2013 and making false statements on two dates in March 2013 claiming Ms Howlin was perverting the course of justice.

A man who injured his shoulder while loading a horse onto a lorry for well-known trainer Margaret Mullins has been awarded €92,000 damages by the High Court.
65-year-old James Foley sued Ms Mullins of Canterbrook Stud, Doninga Goresbridge Co Kilkenny arising out of an incident that occurred at the Stud on November 18th, 2013.
Mr Foley said he sustained the injuries after a horse he placed into a lorry became spooked, causing him to fall.
Giving judgement, Mr Justice Michael Hanna said he was satisfied the defendant had been negligent and Mr Foley was entitled to damages totalling €92,000 plus his legal ….read more
