A burglar was identified after he was caught on CCTV having his hair cut in the barbers next door to the premises he broke into, a court has heard.
Matthew Ahern (53), of St Brigid’s Court, Raheny, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to burglary at Collins Avenue East, Killester on February 17, 2016.
He has 48 previous convictions including seven burglaries and one robbery.

A Pakistani pizza delivery man who transferred €5,000 of stolen money out of Ireland has received a partially suspended sentence.
Atif Saeed (29) told gardai he believed he was assisting another man in paying university fees when he transferred the money which was discovered to be part of a €2.8 million online fraud.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard Saeed was not involved in the online fraud and his guilty plea was entered on the basis of recklessness.
Saeed, formerly of Churchwell Road, Belmayne, Dublin 13 pleaded guilty to removing from the State €5,000 that was the proceeds of criminal conduct at Clarehall Post ….read more

A bank-appointed receiver has launched a High Court action aimed at securing possession of “a palatial eight bedroom mansion” described as being similar to something that featured in the popular 1980′s TV series “Dallas.”
The proceedings have been brought in respect of a property known as the Grange or Grange House Ballyboughal in Co Dublin, which it is claimed has been unlawfully re-occupied by its owners Jeremiah, otherwise Jerry, Donovan and his wife Bridget Donovan.

A man who unintentionally injured a woman when he threw a glass into the air in a crowded bar has received a suspended jail sentence.
Kenneth McCabe (25) told gardaí that he could not remember throwing the glass and said he had no reason or wish to injure the victim.
Judge Martin Nolan at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court said he accepted that the assault had not been intentional but it had been reckless. He said that throwing a glass in a crowded place was likely to cause injury.

The barrister for a 40-year-old Belfast man wanted in Northern Ireland to face prosecution in connection with the murder of prison officer David Black has told the High Court that there is “a real risk” he faces inhumane treatment should he be extradited.
Damien Joseph McLaughlin, with an address at Glenties Rd, Belfast, was arrested in County Donegal last March on foot of a European Arrest Warrant issued by Northern Ireland authorities.

A Co Dublin man has brought High Court proceedings aimed at compelling his neighbour take steps to prevent rock slides and boulders from damaging his property.
The action has been brought by Paul Lynam of Weirview Gardens, Lucan against Thomas Kelly of Weirview Cottages, Lucan.
The court heard Mr Kelly owns a 36 meters square embankment of land located at the rear of Mr Lynam’s property.
The embankment, made up of soil and rock, is 7 to 8 meters high and is vertical in places.
