Boy who raped and blackmailed cousin gets suspended sentence

A teenager who raped and blackmailed his younger cousin in order to continue his sexual exploitation of her has received a three-year suspended sentence.

The boy, now aged 18, pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to the sexual exploitation of two of his cousins and the anal rape of one of them on dates in 2015 and 2016. He cannot be identified to protect the identity of the victims.

Jail for man who threatened to kill woman and held her against her will

A man who held a woman he was dating against her will and threatened to kill her when she tried to leave has been jailed for three and a half years.

Paul Kelly (34) told the victim: “If you leave I will kill you” after she managed to get out of the house. Before she left the area that night, he told her he would come to her house and stab her.

During their relationship, he sent the victim a video of a woman’s head being cut off, Dublin Circuit Court heard today.

Teen was caught with €150k in drugs

A man who was 18 years old when gardaí caught him holding cocaine and MDMA with an estimated street value of nearly €150,000 has been jailed.

Ben Murphy, now aged 20, initially told gardaí that he was coming back from an all-night party to celebrate his Leaving Cert results. Garda John Griffin told Dublin Circuit Criminal Court that Murphy appeared nervous and gardai became suspicious and carried out a drugs search.

Murphy was holding a bag of cocaine in his closed fist and gardaí also found packages of cocaine hidden down his trousers. He tried to run off but gardaí grabbed him ….read more


Teen's best friend left with serious head injury after motorbike crash

A teenager whose best friend was left with serious head injuries when he crashed the motorbike they were on into a car has been placed on a 12-month probation bond.

Jordan Kennedy (19) swerved to avoid a motorist who was taking a right hand turn-off in front of him but he collided with the car, knocking both himself and Stephen Moore (19) off the bike.

Mr Moore later had to undergo emergency surgery for a blood clot to his brain. He was put in an induced coma and had to undergo further surgeries before he was ultimately discharged from hospital two months ….read more
