A 33-year-old woman who was caught leaving Tesco’s with a trolley full of unpaid items threw a can of Monster energy drink while in custody at a garda station, a court has heard.

Rosie Ward (33), of Old Court Cottages, Tallaght, Dublin 24, appeared before Tallaght District Court yesterday (Tuesday) where she pleaded guilty to several counts of theft.

The court heard that on May 4 last at around 5pm, security staff at The Square Shopping Centre stopped Ms Ward after she left Tesco with a trolley full of unpaid-for items.

When questioned by gardaí, she told them: “Yes, I did.” Following her arrest and caution, she confirmed she had taken clothing worth €30 from Dunnes Stores, groceries valued at €292.40 from Tesco and €740 worth of items from Easons.

The court heard that while in custody at Tallaght Garda Station, Ms Ward picked up a can of Monster energy drink and threw it at a table where electrical devices were located.

She was remanded on bail and is due to appear again on July 1, 2025, for finalisation.
