Ali Damache conspired to create “violent jihad organisation”, US alleges

The United States alleges that an Algerian-born Irish citizen conspired with others to devise and create a “violent jihad organisation” capable of targeting US and Western European citizens, the High Court has heard.


Ali Charaf Damache (48), who has been living in Ireland for a decade, is wanted in the United States to face charges relating to the conspiracy to provide material support for terrorists and attempted identity theft to facilitate an act of international terrorism.

Ursula Shannon and three others to be arraigned after summer recess

A Trinity College graduate and three men charged with the possession of two handguns, ammunition and a stun gun will be arraigned on those charges after the court summer recess.


Mr Diarmaid McGuinness SC this morning (Wednesday) asked the Special Criminal Court to set an arraignment date in the new court term for his client Colin Brady (23), while there were identical applications for his co-accused John Troy (33), John McGreal (36) and Ursula Shannon (28), who is a Trinity College graduate and prominent member of socialist republican group Eirigi.

Man wanted in North on terrorism charges appears before extradition court

High Court

A 24-year-old man wanted in Northern Ireland on terrorism charges has been remanded in custody at the High Court in Dublin.

Ryan McKenna is wanted by authorities in the United Kingdom to face charges relating to conspiracy to cause an explosion, the possession of explosives with intent to endanger life and the possession of explosives in Lurgan, Co Armagh in 2007.

Counsel for the State, Ms Lisa Dempsey BL, told the extradition court that Mr McKenna’s three co-accused had already pleaded guilty to the offences.
