Wife called cops on drink-driving husband after argument

A MAN who drove his car after he had a couple of glasses of wine with his wife at dinner and stormed out after an argument has been disqualified from driving for two years.

Raymond Hoey’s wife had called gardai after the 45-year-old drove off under the influence of alcohol on November 6th, 2013.

Hoey, of Glasmore Park in Swords Co Dublin was stopped by Garda Karen Kilcullen at 7.35pm at Glasmore Park and was arrested as he attempted to get out of the car.

He gave a blood sample of 139mg/100ml.

Romanian murder trial starts on Wednesday

The trial of the man charged with murdering teenager Marioara Rostas six years ago will open tomorrow (Wednesday), after a fresh jury was sworn in.

Alan Wilson (35) of New Street Gardens in Dublin has pleaded not (NOT) guilty to murdering the 18-year-old girl at Brabazon Street, The Coombe in Dublin between January 7 and January 8, 2008.

The accused was arraigned before the Central Criminal Court last week and a jury was sworn in to hear the trial.

Roy Collins murder trial in trial within a trial

A trial within a trial is taking place at the Special Criminal Court, where two Limerick men are charged with murdering businessman Roy Collins in the city five years ago.
Wayne Dundon (36), of Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, and Nathan Killeen (24) of Hyde Road, Prospect have pleaded not (NOT) guilty to the 35-year-old’s murder at Coin Castle Amusements, Roxboro Road Shopping Centre on April 9, 2009.
The non-jury court has heard that Mr Collins was at work around noon that day when a gunman entered his amusement arcade and discharged a single shot. He was hit in the chest and died in ….read more

Assault charges withdrawn after ‘agreement of division of blame’

TWO men charged with assaulting each other after one of them allegedly threw a pint glass at the other had their case withdrawn at Swords District Court.

Kieran Kennedy (34) of Rivervalley Court in Swords is alleged to have assaulted Shane Langan causing him harm at Raffs on the Corner bar in Skerries on July 20th last year. He is also alleged to have assaulted Ann Langan on the same date at the same place.

German student killing trial sentencing tomorrow

A Dublin man has pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to the manslaughter of a German student in 2012.

Another Dublin youth is due to be sentenced tomorrow for the murder of the student and the assault of another.
Thomas Heinrich (22) and Robert Rinker (25) were stabbed on St Anthony’s Road in Rialto on the 1 of December 2012. Mr Rinker survived but Mr Heinrich died as a result of the injuries he sustained.

Wesley Kelly (20) of St Anthony’s Road in Rialto, pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter at the Central Criminal Court today.

Kildare murder trial opens

The trial of three men accused of murdering a 20-year-old man in Co. Kildare last year has heard the deceased was shouting on the phone shortly before he was shot.

James Seery (21) of Canal Side, Athy in Kildare, Quentin Monaghan (21) of Tullamoy, Stradbally, Co. Laois and Darren Wynne (21) of Ballyroe, Athy, Co. Kildare were arraigned before the Central Criminal Court last Wednesday.

All three pleaded not (NOT) guilty to murdering Jamie Lindsay at Coney Green, Coneyboro, Athy, Co. Kildare on April 6, 2013.
