Sharon Rattigan gives evidence in Tallaght murder trial

A woman has given evidence in the trial of a 30-year-old man accused of murder that she struggled with a hooded gunman after she and her partner were shot.

Eugene Cullen of Derry Road, Crumlin has pleaded not guilty to murdering Seamus O’ Byrne (27) at Tymon Park North, Tallaght, on March 13, 2009.

The prosecution alleges that Mr Cullen was one of four men who, leading up to the incident, were involved in plotting, planning and executing the murder.

Murder accused said he punched deceased like "Fists of Fury" film, trial hears

A Tipperary man accused of murder told investigating gardaí that he punched his alleged victim like Bruce Lee in the martial arts movie Fists of Fury, a court has heard.

In the Central Criminal Court today, gardaí gave evidence of interviews they conducted with Clonmel man John Hannigan during the investigation into the murder of his friend two years ago.

Mr Hannigan (46) of River House, New Quay has pleaded not guilty to murdering Anthony Fallon in Clonmel on January 28 2012.

Case against “largest facilitator of child porn in the world" further adjourned

A man the FBI has called the “largest facilitator of child porn in the world,” has had his extradition case adjourned for one week.

Eric Eoin Marques, who is alleged to be the owner and administrator of an anonymous hosting site known as Freedom Hosting, is wanted by US authorities to face charges relating to conspiring to distribute and advertise child pornography, and advertising and distributing child pornography.

The 28-year-old, with an address at Mountjoy Square in central Dublin, has been in custody since his arrest in August last year, after he was refused bail over concerns he represented a flight risk ….read more

Murder accused gives evidence at his trial

A Tipperary man has told his murder trial that he had nothing to do with killing his friend and that he was ‘just panicking’ when he told gardai he had given him ‘Bruce Lee’ punches.

John Hannigan (46) spent today in the witness box at the Central Criminal Court, where he is on trial charged with murder and assault.

Judgement not ready in case of man wanted in connection with alleged £100 million conspiracy

A man wanted in the UK in connection with an alleged £100 million money laundering conspiracy, has had his case adjourned for a further three weeks as his extradition judgement is not ready.

James Anthony Tighe (64) is wanted by British authorities to face charges alleging that he was at the centre of a large-scale fraud on the UK public revenue.

The High Court previously heard the charges allege that a large amount of construction companies under the management and control of Mr Tighe were used to systematically defraud the Revenue.

Man denies withholding information on David Black murder

A man has pleaded not guilty at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin to withholding information in relation to the murder of Northern Ireland prison officer David Black.

Vincent Banks (44), of Smithfield Gate Apartments, Smithfield, Dublin 7, was arraigned before the non-jury court this morning on the charge, where he pleaded not guilty.
