Trinity College graduate wigged and disguised when arrested for gun possession, court hears

A Trinity College graduate and two men who are on trial charged with the possession of firearms and ammunition were wearing wigs and disguises when they were intercepted by armed gardai, the Special Criminal Court has heard.

Ursula Shannon (30), who is a Trinity College graduate and prominent member of socialist republican group Eirigi, and her co-accused John McGreal (37) and Colin Brady (24) have pleaded not guilty to the possession of two handguns and 32 rounds of ammunition at Tullybeg, Rahan, Co Offaly on November 27th, 2012.

Elaine O'Hara murder accused served with eight-volume book of evidence

ARCHITECT Graham Dwyer who is accused of the murder of childcare worker Elaine O’Hara, has been sent forward for trial after he was served with an eight-volume book of evidence today.

Mr Dwyer, who is originally from Cork, but has an address at address at Kerrymount Close, Foxrock, Dublin 18, is accused of the murder of Elaine O’Hara (37) in Co Dublin on August 22, 2012.

Her remains were discovered on Killakee mountain, Rathfarnham, Co. Dublin, in September 2013, more than a year after she was last seen.

Woman tells murder trial she had sex after partner was attacked

A Dublin woman has told a murder trial that the accused held her at knife point as his brother took her partner into the next room.

Barbara Staunton was giving evidence at the Central Criminal Court in the trial of a man charged with murdering her 53-year-old partner and concealing his body in a wardrobe.

Anthony Locke (35) from Prussia Street has pleaded not guilty to murdering Christopher Jackson on the 7 September 2012.

A brother of the accused, Bernard Locke (41), from Ramillies Road Ballyfermot, pleaded guilty earlier this week to the murder of Mr Jackson.

Judge orders Dubs star to go on anger management course

DUBLIN football star Diarmuid Connolly has been ordered to complete an anger-management course before he is sentenced for an unprovoked attack on a man in a pub.

Connolly (25) had pleaded guilty earlier to assault causing harm to Anthony Kelly – who suffered a fractured eye-socket – at McGowan’s public house in Phibsboro, in Dublin, in the early hours of August 6, 2012.

An unreserved apology, which was accepted by Mr Kelly, had been issued by Connolly’s lawyer last May during a hearing at Dublin District Court.

Murder accused "completely changed" after childhood attack

A court has heard that the behaviour of a Mayo man who killed his mother had ‘completely changed’ after he was attacked by two men as a child.

Celyn Eadon’s murder trial at the Central Criminal Court today heard evidence from his mother’s former partner.

Mr Eadon (22) of Derrycrieve, Islandeady, Castlebar admits the manslaughter of his mother, Noreen Kelly. However, he has pleaded not guilty to her murder at that address on March 9, 2011. The 46-year-old died of multiple stab wounds.

Teenager told witness he was abducted by aliens, murder trial hears

A man has told a Mayo murder trial that he was having his morning tea, when a half-naked teenager approached his kitchen window and told him he had been abducted by aliens.

John Scott was giving evidence to the Central Criminal Court yesterday (Tuesday) in the trial of Celyn Eadon, who is charged with murdering his mother on March 9, 2011.

The 22-year-old of Derrycrieve, Islandeady, Castlebar admits the manslaughter of Noreen Kelly at that address, but has pleaded not guilty to her murder. The 46-year-old died of multiple stab wounds.
